Welcome
to the Occupational and Environmental Medicine Division of the Department
of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. The Division is
a core program of the UCI Center for Occupational and Environmental
Health and was established in the fall of 1993 to provide a broad range
of occupational and environmental health services, research, and training
for individuals, communities, businesses, and government agencies. The
Division is home to the UCI Occupational Medicine residency program,
which is fully accredited by the ACGME and leads to board certification
in preventive medicine-occupational medicine. The Division's clinical
program provides a setting for residency training while also serving
as a clinical resource to employers, workers, communities, and individuals
in the Southern California area. In addition, the Division has established
a number of research projects. Areas of study include: environmental
and occupational asthma, neurological, reproductive, and immunological
effects of pesticides, cardiovascular effects of occupational stress,
and delivery of occupational health services.
