The University of California Irvine, College of Medicine, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, is a five-year program with four intern positions available each year. Applicants are only selected through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) and all applicants/candidates are selected only through the NRMP (National Resident Match Program). The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery program is designed to provide the Orthopaedic Surgery resident an in-depth experience in operative and non-operative management of common as well as sophisticated and tertiary Orthopaedic problems. Emphasis is placed on spinal deformity, trauma, and degenerative diseases along with an in-depth experience in sports and athletic medicine, arthroscopic procedures, sophisticated ligamentous reconstructions, shoulder and hand reconstructive surgery, and joint replacement arthroplasty of the hip, knee, and shoulder.
