The Emergency Medicine residency was established in 1988 and has
full accreditation by the Residency Review Committee. The program
has 18 residents, six for each of the three post-graduate years.
The UCI Medical Center Emergency Department serves as Orange County's
only Level I Trauma Center and treats over 44,000 patients annually.
Fourteen board-certified emergency medicine faculty provide 24-hour
patient care and supervision of residents and medical students.
The Division of Emergency Medicine is active in public affairs,
community service, and research in the areas of instructional
methods, health policy, medical toxicology, critical care technology,
disaster medicine, infectious disease, among others. |
