Welcome to the University of California, Irvine
Residency Program in Psychiatry

The Department of Psychiatry at the University of California Irvine College of Medicine is dedicated to the provision of first-rate patient care, outstanding medical education, comprehensive training, and innovative research. Graduates from this program excel in the practice of modern psychiatry, trained to approach patient care with a full understanding of the biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors which influence mental illness and treatment.  We are proud in that our program has been commended by the RRC in Psychiatry for compliance with the ACGME requirements, a distinction shared with few other programs.

Located in Orange County, California, the University of California Irvine Medical Center is the only university hospital and level I trauma center in the county. It offers both acute and general care services to the entire county, serving a diverse patient population, which allows our residents to have a broad range of training and to reach out to a large group of mentally ill.

Excellence in education. Innovations in research. Compassion in care.

The mission of the University of California, Irvine Psychiatry Residency Program is to provide, in a conducive environment with flexibility for individualized training, a comprehensive education and clinical experience such that our graduates possess sound clinical judgment, excellent skills, utmost professionalism and highest knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders.
