The faculty of the UCI Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior is broad and diverse with interests covering the gamut from molecular genetics to transpersonal psychiatry to the treatment of acute psychosis. Our faculty is available for academic consultation and clinical supervision. Enriching the full-time faculty is a coterie of dedicated volunteer faculty who lend their clinical expertise to psychotherapy supervision. We are one of the most productive research departments in the country and there are many opportunities for participating in research and even designing projects.
The philosophy of our residency training program is somewhat different than the average program. We view our residents as colleagues and have attempted to create a warm and nurturing learning and working environment where the development of each resident is an important undertaking. The residency training program is an important core activity within the department and an essential component of our identity,
Our residents enter all aspects of psychiatry and are exceptionally well prepared clinically and intellectually for the challenges of our field. We remain in contact with them and are proud of their accomplishments.
