Dr.
Aaron Kheriaty, MD,
the Associate Residency Training Director, was awarded the designation of
Marquis’ Who’s Who in America 2009, for his work in psychiatry,
spirituality, and bioethics. He has also been awarded the Spirituality and
Medicine Award for Curriculum Development for Psychiatry Residency Training
Programs from the George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health.
The UCI
Psychiatry and Human Behavior Department received several awards from the UCI
School of Medicine Honors & Awards Night

Our
Department received the Associated Medical Students Excellence in Teaching Award
for the third year in a row.

Barry Chaitin,
M.D. received the Department Chair Award for Excellence presented to the
department chair whose department has promoted student development and
exemplifies the spirit of medical education.

Leslie Thompson,
Ph.D received the MVP Outstanding Service Award for contributing her time,
talent and continued support of the educational programs.

Gerald Maguire,
M.D. received the Outstanding Faculty Service Award for his excellent teaching
abilities, dedication to the residents, and on-going support and commitment to
the annual Student/Faculty Retreat.

Charles Nguyen,
M.D. received the distinguished Golden Apple Award for excellence in teaching.

Tara Yuan, M.D.
received the Dean's Award for Compassion in the treatment of patients.
In
addition, our incoming residents were also awarded with multiple honors.

Sayeh Beheshti
will graduate with distinction in the Arts & Humanities for her contributions to
the School of Medicine community in the areas of arts and humanities.

Gina Gajdos
received the Gold-Headed Cane Award from her peers for commitment and devotion
to patient care.

Brenda Jensen was
inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Brenda also received
the Merck Manual Award for outstanding academic and clinical achievement, and
the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Award from the American Medical Women's
Association for graduating first in her class.
C.Gail Ryan-Raphael will
graduate with distinctions in Service and in the Arts & Humanities. C. Gail
Ryan also received the Educational Affairs Service Award, Senior Humanitarian
Award, Associated Medical Student Government Service Award, and the Medical Arts
& Humanities Award.
