The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior has a tripartite mission of high level research; expert and compassionate clinical care and superb educational programs. We invite interest and communication about our activities.

Research: Many faculty have included descriptions of current research and academic interests in this website. Each year the AAMC ranks all departments of all U.S. medical schools.  One of the ranking criteria is total research dollars per full time faculty.  The Department of Psychiatry ranks in the top 5% of all 123 departments of psychiatry and ranks #1 for the past two years among the 72 publicly funded medical schools.  Total governmental grants and contracts for the 2006-07 fiscal year was $19.4 million.  The department also received $6.5 million in private grants and gifts.

Clinical: The department trains 30 residents in general psychiatry and 4 advanced fellows in child psychiatry.

We currently have 32 academic faculty, 37 academic researchers and 96 staff in our department.
