Marc Evensen, M.D.

Associate Clinical Professor
Residency Program Director

Dr. Evensen has been a member of the UC Irvine family since 1992, when he started medical school, receiving his M.D. in 1996. After an internship year in Internal Medicine at the Greater LA VA Medical Center, Dr. Evensen completed his residency training in PM&R at UC Irvine in 2000, immediately taking a position on faculty at UC Irvine and serving as the primary teaching physician at UCI Medical Center for PM&R. Also since that time, Dr. Evensen has maintained a part-time position at the Long Beach VA Medical Center to assist in the clinical supervision in the electrodiagnostics laboratory.

Dr. Evensen became involved in the residency training program as Site Director for the UCI Medical Center campus in 2000, expanding his role to Associate Residency Program Director in 2002, and becoming Program Director in 2005. Also during this time period, Dr. Evensen accepted the position of Medical Director of the Acute Rehabilitation Unit at UCI Medical Center and has been a member of the UCI Graduate Medical Education committee, both since 2002. Dr. Evensen has served on the UCI Medical Center Compliance Committee since 2000, and served as Acting Chair for the Department of PM&R in 2004-2005, while the Department Chair was on sabbatical. Dr. Evensen has also been a member of several business development committees for UCI Medical Center, including Orthopedics, Neurosciences, and Rehabilitation.

Additionally, Dr. Evensen has served as the Medical Student Course Director for the Department of PM&R since 2000.

Dr. Evensen has also been a member of the teams which have produced Clinical Pathways for Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Strokes at UCI Medical Center.

Dr. Evensen is a member of the AAPM&R. He received his board certification in PM&R in 2001.
