We participate in the match for five positions each year. The next opportunity for you to apply for a PGY2 position will be for the academic year 2007; we will conduct interviews during the fall 2005. Check back here for updated information. Submit to ERAS all your application documents; we do not accept any documents outside ERAS.
In October, we will review applications and select from the candidates with the most complete applications. We will interview on selected Fridays during November, December and January. Qualified applicants who participate in the PM&R elective 670A may be able to interview during their elective time. Individuals who are board eligible or certified in another specialty, and graduates of foreign, non-Canadian medical schools are at a disadvantage when competing for interview slots for our program. If you are an international medical graduate, contact the ECFMG. UCI residency programs accept applications from IMGs who have their letter from the California Medical Board, which should be included in the letters of recommendation as Letter # 4, and a J-1 visa. UCI does not sponsor visas. Before starting a residency at UCI, you must pass Step 1 of the USMLE or COMLEX and both parts of Step 2. It is also preferable that you pass Step 3 or at least have a scheduled date. While we do not have a required score for interviews, we consider test scores as part of the overall assessment for selection of candidates for interviews. Competitive candidates to this program have a record absent of past fails with scores well over the passing requirements. After you apply, refer to ERAS for the status of your application. For applicants from Tulane whose documentation may be late, we are downloading information daily to ensure that we receive all documents from our candidates. If you have any further questions, please feel to contact us. You should also review information at UCI School of Medicine, Educational Affairs for more information. |
