The Department of Pediatrics has an established national reputation in both basic science
research and in applied clinical research. Nationally recognized programs of particular note
include research in the following areas:
• Neurosciences
• Behavioral Sciences
• Genetics
• Perinatal/Neonatal Medicine
In 2004/2005, The UCI School of Medicine received over 200 federally funded research
grants many of which went to fund projects within the Department of Pediatrics.
