Current projects include:

Deepak Rajpoot, M.D.
Clinical Professor, Division Chief
Dr. Rajpoot has several research interests including transplants, dialysis, pediatric renal disease, immunology, and pediatric hypertension. He finds particular promise for positive research outcome in two of these areas: Immunology and Hypertension. Immune mechanisms play a significant role in the development of renal injuries. The majority of these mechanisms are folding over and increasing knowledge of immunology. However, the benefit of this knowledge has yet to improve the quality of patient care or change the course of renal outcome significantly. His research is this area is directed at useful application of immunological knowledge in pediatric renal disease including pediatric renal transplant.

Hypertension is a new emerging trend in the U.S. pediatric population and is associated with obesity, as well as possible dietary and environmental changes. Because of the long term morbidity of hypertension, Dr. Rajpoot hopes to conduct new studies needed to identify causal mechanisms and develop a strategy for prevention.
