Peripheral
Auditory Processing in Birds
Dr. Lin Chen from University of Science and Technology of China will talk about how the peripheral auditory system of birds encodes and processes acoustic signals. In the last 10 years, Dr Lin Chen and his colleagues used chickens as subjects and found that birds employ some unique mechanisms such as electrical tuning to achieve their remarkable frequency selectivity and sensitivity. In this talk, Dr Lin Chen will also summarize their series of studies on how hair cell regeneration influences the auditory processing in birds.
