Ginger Stickney, Ph.D. is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. Her mentor is Dr. Fan-Gang Zeng. Dr. Stickney is also a California-licensed Audiologist with a part-time appointment at the UCI Medical Center.
Dr. StickneyŐs research focus has been on speech perception, cochlear implants, and cognitive neuroscience. In Dr. ZengŐs lab, she has also received training in digital signal processing and psychophysics and plans to incorporate these skills to develop rehabilitative tools for cochlear implant users. She has received a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the National Research Service Program at NIH and awards from the Irvine Research Unit, the General Clinical Research Center, and the Research Imaging Center of UC Irvine. Her research has been presented at numerous conferences including the Association for Research in Otolaryngology, the Acoustical Society of America, the International Cochlear Implant Conference, and the Conference on Auditory Implants and Prostheses. Dr. Stickney has published several peer-reviewed articles, co-authored three book chapters, and has served as a reviewer for the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Ear and Hearing, the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research, and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Dr. Stickney received a BachelorŐs of Science degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego in 1992. She received her MasterŐs of Science degrees from the University of Texas at Dallas in Cognition and Neuroscience in 1997 and in Audiology in 1998. She received her doctorate in Cognition and Neuroscience in 2001. Dr. Stickney is a member of the Association for Research in Otolaryngology (ARO), the Acoustical Society of America (ASA), and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Stickney has been working with the department of Otolaryngology at the University of California, Irvine since May 2001.
