v     Working on a new strategy for new-generation cochlear implants. 
o       Used different research interfaces together with different DSP boards 
o       Built new algorithms to code fine-structure information 
o       Integrated place-coding and temporal-coding hearing theories together
o       Combined different auditory models in signal processing
 
v     Developed hardware and software for the hearing aid to enhance speech 
o       Designed different speech experiments to extract cues for higher intelligibility 
o       Built new digital signal processing algorithms based on experimental results
o       Implemented the simulation of the new algorithms in Matlab
o       Designed digital and analog hardware for a hearing aid device prototype
o       Evaluated the performance of the prototype, which showed better performance
 
v     Developed programs to setup speech and psychoacoustics experiments
o       Setup different programs to investigate the hearing mechanism 
o       Developed different programs to testify the hearing models
o       Designed psychoacoustics and speech experiments to further current research
o       Used almost all program languages in the experimental design
o       Used TDT system II and III software and hardware packages as the platform
 
v     Designed the CMOS De/encoder, ALU and SRAM in class projects 
o       Used PSPICE and IRSIM for simulations and Magic for layouts
o       Designed CMOS current references and OP-AMPs by using the same tool sets

v     Implemented ultrasonic image processing and real-time image/sound transmission 
o       Implemented H.263 and G.730 ITU-T standard over TCP/IP Internet 
o       Designed specific image enhancing algorithms improve the accuracy of B-ultrasonic diagnosis
o       The image/sound were compressed in real-time transmission.
 
v     Designed an automatic peak-detecting system for BAEP 
o       BAEP is the acronym of Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potential
o       Implemented a match-filter technology to detect peaks
o       Increased detection accuracy by 5% comparing to traditional detection methods. 
 
v     Participated in the development of CAI (Computer Aid Instruction) system 
o       Focused on real-time high-speed data acquisition. 
o       Used the VXD programming technology to acquire data from different peripherals in real time.
