UCI Medical Center is located in Orange County, approximately 40 miles south of Los Angeles, but a world apart in terms of quality of life. We are within minutes of ocean swimming, surfing, jet skiing, and boating, and an hour or so from mountain, desert, and wilderness areas.

Orange County, with its population of 3 million, offers the culture and economic resources of an urban area along with the recreational advantages and mild dry climate of Southern California. Entertainment choices are many. Orange County is home to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, and the Laguna Beach Festival of Arts.

The Orange County Performing Arts Center is a world class facility hosting regular symphony, opera, and ballet performances. Large popular music concerts take place at two outdoor amphitheaters - Irvine Meadows and Pacific Amphitheater. The California Angels make their home at Edison Field which is located immediately north of the Medical Center. The Anaheim Mighty Ducks also play just north of the hospital at "The Pond." Lastly, The Block - a megaplex of movie theatres, restaurants, Vans Skatepark, and specialty stores - is located across the street from the medical center.

For those who like sunshine, blue skies, outdoor recreation, culture, and sports, there is hardly a better place in the continental states to live and play.
