University of California, Irvine: Emergency Medicine Department

Our program participates in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) coordinated by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). All applications must be received through ERAS. We will not accept any paper applications. Information on ERAS can be obtained through the student affairs office or the Dean's Office at your medical school. You can also get further information about ERAS from the AAMC web site at http://www.aamc.org/eras.

Notice to University of California Applicants

All applicants must complete a minimum of one month elective during medical school in family medicine in order to be licensed in the state of California. If you do not meet this requirement, The University of California Irvine will not be able to hire you because you will not be able to obtain a medical license in California.

All first year postgraduate appointments are made through the National Resident Matching Program. The deadline for submitting applications for consideration by UC Irvine on ERAS is November 1st. They must include:

Completed ERAS application form

Three letters of recommendation, preferably using the standard CORD recommendation form for Emergency Medicine Faculty. Two letters should be from an Emergency Medicine faculty at your medical school or externship.

Official Dean's Letter

Medical school transcripts, forwarded by the medical school

NRMP number

Board Scores (all parts of USMLE completed - COMLEX will not be accepted)

Personal statement

Photograph

ECFMG status report and California letter for license eligibility for international graduates only

Interviews are by invitation only. Applicant files are reviewed after all supporting documentation is received; it is important to have your material submitted ASAP.

Interviews will be scheduled on Wednesdays from late October through January and on Fridays during January. The interview day will last from 7am to 3pm on Wednesdays and 8am to12pm on Fridays.
