CAREER MOBILITY IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE
CAREER MOBILITY IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE
MINUTES
CONFERENCE CALL FEBRUARY 24, 2000
- Discussion was held regarding setting up a listserve for communication purposes. Sherry Fox will look into this possibility. The hope is to invite others who might be interested in participating in the work of this committee to be on the listserve to promote free flowing communication.
- Perhaps we can use the document "Bridging the Gap" to help us begin the work of this committee.
- It was decided that we need to look at community based applications for VN, ADN, BSN, and MSN roles. First, a definition of community based nursing must be established
Sandra DeBella, from Sonoma State University, will chair a committee for this objective. Representatives from the BRN and BVNPT will be asked to join this subcommittee
- Maureen Casamiquela, from Kaiser, suggested that expansion of opportunities for student preceptorships in areas of concentration be examined.
- We plan to establish a website to facilitate having a central place for information on educational mobility. Perhaps we can link to Kaisers website, for example, as well as others. Discussion was held as to what could be placed on the website.
- A question arose concerning what kind of incentives service might be able to provide to encourage RNs to return to school for a BSN or MSN and for the LVN to become an RN.
- Diane Welch will explore models for articulation agreements already in place and various transfer policies.
- Diane will also obtain information on community college units that can be used for upper division units.
III. Date of the next conference call to be determined. Thursday appears to be the best day for most people.
