Geriatrics for Internal Medicine Residents

The UC Irvine Program in Geriatrics collaborates with an intensive rotation in Geriatrics for Internal Medicine residents based at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Long Beach.

In line with the ACGME suggested competencies, this month long rotation increases the resident’s knowledge of:

  • Options for palliative care for terminal illness.

To meet these goals, residents are assigned experiences with:

  • GEM primary care
  • Memory clinic
  • GEM inpatient consultations
  • Home based primary care (HBPC)
  • NHCU case review
