Guikai Wu

With a BS from the University of Science & Technology of China, Hefei, Guikai majored in Biology.  In 2004 from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, he graduated with a PhD in Molecular Medicine.  His work is focused on the role of Hec1 in mitosis and the potential therapeutic application(s) in breast cancer treatment.

Jiewen Zhu

Jiewen received his PhD from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry. He is currently synthesizing small molecule inhibitors of BRCA2-Rad50 and Hec1-Nek2 complexes.

Longen Zhou

Longen received his PhD from Peking Union Medical University and joined this lab after working at the National Cancer Institute, NIH.  He is currently working on small molecule inhibitors which disrupt BRCA2-Rad51 and Hec1-Nek2 interaction.

Xianzhi Jiang

Xianzhi received a BS and MS in Biochemistry from Sichuan University and Nanjiang University, respectively.  At the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, he received his PhD in Molecular Medicine.  His research is focused on the function(s) of NPGPx in redox signaling transduction and cancer.

Xiaolong Qiu

Xiaolong attended Southwest Normal University in China and received his BS in Chemistry.  He continued his studies at Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry and received his PhD in 2005.  Currently in the Lee Lab in collaboration with Prof. R. Chamberlain, Xiaolong is synthesizing INH and ZBR2 prodrugs for potential therapeutic treatments for cancer.

Xiaoqin Lin

Xiaoqin received her PhD from Ohio State.  Her research interests are to investigate the biological functions of Rint-1 (Rad50-interactiong protein).  Another is to investigate the biological function of a putative novel protein phosphatase, 15A3, which interacts with Hec1 protein.

Zhanyong Shu

Zhanyong, a specialist in biophysics and biochemistry, received his PhD from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS.  He is working on the characterization of cancer-linked proteins, including SUV3.

Connie Tsai

With a BS in Biological Sciences, Connie is continuing her studies at UCI toward a PhD in the Department of Biological Chemistry.  Her project in the Lee Lab is on the transcriptional regulation of HMGA2..

Dennis Dinghwa Wang

Dennis graduated from UC Berkeley with a double major in Computer Science and Molecular and Cell Biology.  He is currently working on his MD/PhD at UC Irvine.  In the Lee lab, Dennis is working on the biochemistry of the SUV3 protein.

  Emily Xuning Guo At the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, Emily completed her BS in Biochemistry.  As a PhD student in the Lee Lab, she is working on factors secreted by mammalian epithelial cells that suppress cancer proliferation.

  Lily Khidr Lily received her BS from UC Berkeley in Molecular and Cellular Biology and completed her MS from UCLA in Physiological Sciences-Neurosurgery division.  She joined the lab in Jan. 2005 as a CRC trainee and is currently working on nuclear and mitochondrial DSB repair mechanisms involved in tumorigenesis.

  Randy Wei After obtaining his BA in Molecular & Cell Biology from UC Berkeley, Randy left for the UK to work on his M. Phil in Clinical Sciences at Cambridge University.  Now at UCI, Randy is a MD/PhD student doing research in role(s) of angiopoietin 1 inducing the proliferation and inhibition of differential mammary epithelial cells to fulfill his PhD requirements before returning to complete his MD program.

  Saori Furuta Saori got her BA in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of California, Berkeley and MS at UCLA.  She joined the lab in March 2004 and is currently working on BRCA1 differentiation in mammalian epithelial tissue.

  Yung-Ming Jeng Yung-Ming is currently a PhD student at National Taiwan University doing special training in the Lee Lab.  Dr. Jeng has also earned his MD from NTU.  His research is focused on the Hec1 promoter.

Annie Chu

Annie is currently a work-study student in the Lee Lab.  She is a second year student working on her BS in a double major which includes Criminology, Law & Society as well as Psychology & Social Behavior.  Her broad interests range from reading to snow boarding.

Ryon two more years at UCI before completing his BS.  He is majoring in Biological Sciences.  His scientific interest lie in cancer biology and his general interests include photography, art history and surfing.
