Journals:
The UCI library -- This
site provides full access to most biomedical journals. Only available to UCI
researchers.
Biotools:
National
Center for Biotechnology Information -- The most valuable web resource available for
biology researchers. Allows searches of genome databases -- and much more.
Pub Med -- For
searching the biomedical literature.
Entrez
Nucleotides Database -- For obtaining nucleotide sequences from a variety
of nucleotide sequence databases.
Entrez Protein Database -- For obtaining protein sequences
from a variety of databases.
Blast
searches -- Allows
searches of databases with nucleotide and peptides sequences. Also, allows
comparisons/alignments of nucleotide and peptide sequences.
Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man -- A catalog of human genes and
genetic disorders.
Molecular Modeling and Structure -- A database of proteins structures
and motifs.
Mouse
Genome Informatics -- Access to data on the genetics, genomics and biology of the
laboratory mouse.
The Whole
Mouse Catalog -- A central place to find numerous Internet resources of
particular interest to scientific researchers using mice or rats in their work.
Primer design -- A great site for help with primer
design.
Mammary gland:
Biology of the
Mammary Gland -- A great resource for learning about the tools of the trade, and the
biology of the mammary gland.
Web sites linked to mammary gland

Cancer:
Collaborating
on public cancer data -- This site contains multiple links to sites useful for
cancer researchers, including the Cancer Genome Anatomy Project.
Cancer and its types
Development:
Dynamic Development -- An excellent resource for students
interested in developmental biology.

Iceland:
Mats –
photos of Iceland -- If you like discover what Iceland looks like, the image gallery of
this site features a great selection of photographs from Iceland -- beautiful
pictures of towns and landscapes by Mats Wibe Lund, one of Iceland’s (actually
he is Norwegian) best photographers.
The University
of Iceland -- A remarkably accomplished institution considering that the population
of Iceland is only about 290 thousand.
Mannvernd -- The best source of information (from the dissenters) about the
controversy surrounding the plans of a biotechnology company, deCODE genetics,
to create a health sector database containing the medical records of all
Icelanders. Construction of the database was never started; deCODE pulled off
the most dramatic April fools’ joke in the history of Iceland.
