Dr. O'Dowd's Lab - Image #2

GFP-Labeled Neuron in Cell Culture

Neurons from the fly brain can be grown in cell culture and the mushroom body neurons are identified by their expression of green fluorescent protein (GFP). Electrophysiological techniques are being used in the lab to examine regulation of electrical excitability and synaptic properties of the cultured neurons.
