Course Grades: Successful completion of this course will be determined based on two criteria of attendance and presentation.
Attendance/Participation
The Journal Club meets every other Wednesday.  Active attendance at 4 of the 5 scheduled meeting dates is required for satisfactory completion of this objective.  Students will be asked to engage in the presentation and are highly encouraged to ask questions.

Students who are unable to attend Journal Club meetings, due to course conflicts, are still required to register for Journal Club and in lieu of attendance, they must submit questions they have for the journal article to the administrators prior to the Journal Club meeting. If the student would like to have those questions answered by the presenter, the questions must be submitted to the administrators no later than 5 P.M. the day before the Journal Club meeting.

Presentation
In addition to attendance, every graduate student is required to present once per year.
Presentation
Structure:
There will be 2 presentations at each meeting session.

Each student will be allotted a 30-minute period during which they will present their selected journal article and offer criticism.

The presentation will follow with a 10-minute question and answer session from the audience.

Article Selection:

Each presenter will select his/her own paper. Papers may be selected from the student's field of study, or from an area of interest that they wish to explore further.

Consultation with the PI is highly recommended.

The journal article must be a recent publication (no more than 2 years old) and have a maximum length of 12 pages.

The pdf files of the journal article must be sent to the administrators at least 2 weeks prior to the presentation for distribution purposes.
